Peritoneal Catheter

The peritoneal catheter is used to drain cerebrospinal fluid from the outlet of the valve unit into the peritoneum. The distal end of the catheter has four staggered rows of 6-mm slits, which are not readily visible. If the distal outlet hole of the catheter becomes obstructed, the slits open for drainage. The slits perform optimally in a saline environment after soaking for 24 hours at 37 degrees Celsius.

The proximity of the holes near the tip ensures that the holes will not extend outside small cysts. Each catheter is supplied with 2 stylets: a blunt-ended stylet and a sharp-ended stylet.

The Integra Y- Lumbar Catheter consists of a F5 (ID: 0.8 mm) radiopaque silicone tubing with two open-ended arms (75 mm each) featuring several rows of inlet holes. The Y-shape consists of a 30 degree angle connection between the arms and the drainage catheter. The catheter overall length is 80 cm. A F5 radiopaque silicone Suture Clamp and a F8 -F5 radiopaque polypropylene Stepdown Connector (OD: 1.8 and 1.5 mm; ID: 0.8 mm) are supplied with the catheter.
