Lafayette Hand-Held Dynamometer
LAFAYETTE INSTRUMENT COMPANY, INC.
The Lafayette Hand-Held Dynamometer is an ergonomic hand-held device for objectively quantifying muscle strength. The device comes in an ergonomic plastic housing that fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. An elastic strap helps keep the HHD in place. The device has a LCD screen for data readout and menus for setup. The patient pushes on a stirrup accessory which is attached to the shaft of a force measuring load cell. The load cell senses the amount of force being applied to the device by the patient and this load is displayed in the LCD in pounds, kilograms or newtons. An optional test stand accessory and holder are used to position the HHD for the test.

Pneumograph Nonmetalic 135cm Strap
LAFAYETTE INSTRUMENT COMPANY, INC.
The Non-Metallic Pneumos consist of two plastic end pieces connected by a rubber convoluted tube. The pieces are also connected internally by a rubber band. A connecting tube of various lengths is attached to the pneumograph assembly. These tube lengths can be 7, 10, 12, or 14 feet or 89 inches depending on customer specifications. The entire assembly is non-metallic so that that it can be used safely in an MRI environment. The Pneumograph is used as respiration sensor. The convoluted tube is attached around the upper or lower torso of the patient and is held in place with a Velcro strap. As the patient breathes, the tube expands and contracts which varies the pressure inside the tube in direct correlation to the breathing pattern. When attached to a pressure sensor, the breathing pattern of the patient can be sensed and recorded. The pneumograph is used as a gating sensor for MRI machines to sense the patient’s breathing pattern. The image acquisition of the MRI is triggered at the bottom of the patient’s breathing cycle when there is minimal movement of the chest cavity.

Hand Evaluation Kit
LAFAYETTE INSTRUMENT COMPANY, INC.
The Lafayette Grip or Pinch Dynamometers are hydraulic strength measuring instruments. They are designed for routine assessment of the grip and/or pinch strength of a patient or can also be used in the evaluation of hand trauma or disease. As the patient either grips or pinches the device, a column of hydraulic fluid activates a pressure gauge mounted on the top of the device. The gauge indicates the pinch or grip force in pounds (lbs) or kilogram force (kgf). A peak needle shows the maximum force applied during a single test. The peak needle is manually reset at the end of the test and peak values are recorded manually. The grip dynamometers also feature an adjustable handle that can accommodate five different grip positions. The Stainless Steel Short Finger Goniometer is used for easy range-of-motion measurements of metacarpal, phalangeal, and interphalangeal joints. There are linear inch and centimeter markings on both sides of the protractors, in opposite directions. The protractors measure 0-150° in 5° increments. Stainless steel. Latex free. Clearly marked numbers make measuring easy. Measures 5.75 inches long.

Lafayette Extendable Goniometer
LAFAYETTE INSTRUMENT COMPANY, INC.
The Lafayette Extendable Goniometer is an angle measurement device used for accurate, versatile, reliable and objective assessment of range of motion. The Extendable Goniometer features a dual scale, 1° increments, extendable and retractable arms, magnified reading window, as well as a compact, lightweight, and portable design. Its arms can extend to 28.00 inches to measure large joints and retract to 8.0 inches to measure all but the smallest joints. Unlike standard goniometers that require the examiner to estimate alignment, the length of the extendable arms allows it to lie over anatomical bony landmarks. The dual scale of 0-180° and 180-0° is magnified four times, improving the accuracy of the reading, thus, reducing the chance for error. Its lightweight ABS plastic construction will ensure continued and long lasting use.
