The ECHELON, ECHELON ENDOPATH™ and ECHELON FLEX™ families of endoscopic linear cutters and reloads are sterile, single patient use instruments that simultaneously cut and staple tissue. The 45 mm instruments have a staple line thatis approximately 45 mm long and a cut line that is approximately 42 mm long. The shaft can rotate freely in both directions and an articulation mechanism on articulating instruments enables bending the distal portionof the shaft to facilitate lateral access of the operative site.The instruments are shipped without a reload and must be loaded prior to use. A staple retaining cap on the reload protects the staple leg points during shipping and transportation. The instruments’ lock-out feature is designed to prevent a used reload from being refired.

The ECHELON FLEX 45 Powered Plusinstruments have a staple line that is approximately 45 mm long and a cut line that is approximately 42 mm long. The shaft can rotate freelyin both directions and an articulation mechanism enables the distal portion of the shaft to pivot to facilitate lateral access to the operativesite.The instruments are packaged with a primary lithium battery pack that must be installed prior to use. There are specific requirements fordisposing of the battery pack. Refer to the Battery Pack Disposal section.The instruments are packaged without a reload and must be loaded prior to use. A staple retaining cap on the reload protects the staple legpoints during shipping and transportation. The instruments’ lock-out feature is designed to prevent a used or improperly installed reloadfrom being refired or an instrument from being fired without a reload.

The sleep remote is an external device that is about the size of a cell phone and is used by the patient to activate the Inspire system before they go to sleep. The patient places the remote over the implanted IPG site, and uses push buttons on top of the programmer to: a.) turn the therapy ON or OFF, b.) temporarily suspend therapy, or c.) make adjustments to the stimulation strength (within limits set by the physician). The patient’s sleep remote also allows patients to check the status of the IPG battery. There are both visual and audio indicators that provide information on the IPG status (therapy ON/OFF, therapy paused, stimulation level and battery status). The Inspire sleep remote will only communicate with the Inspire IPG.
