Erythrocyte Lysis Solution is a simple pretreatment for heavily blood-stained amniotic fluid and bone marrow samples which quickly removes heavy red blood cell (erythrocyte) contamination. Unlike many similar products used in molecular biology that lyse red blood cells, this product is extremely gentle in its action and is specially suited for cytogenetic cell culture work. It is well documented that high concentrations of red blood cells inhibit growth of cells from amniotic fluid by restricting colony size.

Chromosome Resolution Additive is a formulation that consistently prevents chromosome contraction and encourages chromosome elongation by loosening the chemical bonding within the supercoiled structure. It has been designed for use with tissues resistant to existing prophase techniques such as bone marrows and solid tumors.

Optimal Hypotonic Solution is a hypotonic solution which achieves optimum metaphase swelling (spreading) from difficult cells prone to either under spread or overspread where conventional hypotonic solutions achieve inadequate swelling. The solution increases cell volume allowing the chromosomes more room to spread; well spread chromosomes with few crossovers greatly aid analysis. Developed for acute leukaemia bone marrow and tumour cells, also useful with problem blood and other problematic sample types.

Pre-Hypotonic Solution is to be used before the hypotonic stage of a blood or bone marrow harvest; pre-hypotonic solution makes the hypotonic stepmore effective by circumventing the tendency of chromosomes to clump or to under-spread.

Metaphase Arresting Solution is a mixture of colchicine/vinblastine sulphate dissolved in PBS. Both of these compounds inhibit the formation of mitotic spindles and are used to increase the percentage of metaphase cells for chromosome studies. Vinblastine sulphate has been found to be more effective against bone marrows, difficult tumours and problematic tissues with low mitotic indexes, and where colchicine/colcemid appears to be ineffective.
